One of the later East Lancs Leyland Atlanteans 266 (DBK 266W) seen here in Citybus colours in 1998

A small number of Dennis Dominators were purchased in 1984, but were never really liked, the Atlantean being preferred, but at this timewere no longer avaliable. 277 (A277 ROW) is in the short lived reversed livery introduced in SCT's latter days.

Looking rather scruffy in 1981, are a couple of AEC Regent V's. 361 (BTR 361B) facing the camera, has a Neepsend  body the subsidiary of East Lancs

In 2000 some MCW Metrobuses were acquired from First Mainline Sheffield. They were used in normal service on occasion but seemed to migrate more towards school services in due course. This is 539 (JWF 489W) a Mk2 example on route 17 to Sholing.

In the 1990s Southampton Citybus embraced alternative fuels in a big way. A number of Dennis Darts with Plaxton Pointer  and earlier Dartline bodies were purchased. This fad was not perpetuated by First on the takeover, although those already in service continued.
